We are closing out the summer art walk season by featuring the western landscapes of local fine art photographer, Jay Wesler. Formally educated in photography at Columbia College in Chicago, Wesler has lived in, worked from and shown his images in Montana for the last 16 years. His images have also appeared in national television productions and publications, including Outdoors Photographer and Shutterbug Magazine.
Utilizing the strength of black and white photography, Wesler’s images can capture an engulfing blanket of clouds over a high peak or make a tree appear to be holding its breath. In Wesler’s words, “Nature’s substance and unique form will often produce a formidable visual balance. Composing a scene will take many passes, often reoccurring on weather changes or a seasonal feature and always dependent on the mood of light.”
