Ann seeks to capture the beauty of nature that may not be obvious to the casual observer. It has been said that she sees the world differently than most people do. The emphasis that she places on light, color and texture in her work brings those hidden wonders to life in her images. She currently resides just outside of the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, MT.
"There is something enchanting to me about a grove of aspen trees in the Yellowstone forest. When you add the elements of color, light and movement, simple trees can become magical. Whether the result is a graceful representation, slanted more to the edgy side or somewhere in between, each capture is unique. The seasonal changes to the landscape, ensures that there will be a continuing evolution of the color palette. The uniqueness of each image elicits a feeling of surprise that keeps me roaming the forest looking for the next abstract creation. The images in this exhibition have been compared to paintings and I use the camera instead of a brush to present the viewer with my artistic perspective of trees. Each image is captured with in-camera motion blur and basic post processing. The effects are achieved with differing shutter speeds and apertures, along with the direction and tempo of the camera movement. Nature – be amazed every day!" - Ann Skelton Vertical Divider
