"The Emerson was my first studio space in Montana. It was a corner space with great light, I’ve been an artist all my life starting in first grade in a one-room country school house that also had great light. That was the year I decided I was going to be an artist. After attending Western Washington State College I attended Burnley School of Art (now called the Art Institute) in Seattle, Washington on scholarship. After college I opened a design studio creating logos, brochures, and designing packaging and creating illustrations for national companies. From there I moved to creating fine art for galleries. When we moved to Montana my husband and I showed our work in our own gallery in Livingston for 15 years. We have since sold the gallery and moved to a studio at our home in Livingston.
My work has been widely shown in many places across the country including Disney World, San Bernadino Art Museum, Holter Museum, Nicolaysen Museum, C.M. Russell Masters in Miniature, Missoula Museum, Yellowstone Art Museum, Governor’s Mansion, Paris Gibson Art Museum, Water Works Art Museum, Painted Buffalo Roam Project in West Yellowstone, and numerous gallery shows from New York to Seattle." - Karen Garre Vertical Divider
